Stunning Whitewater Falls
Waterfalls, waterfalls and waterfalls.....
Beautiful Jocassee Gorges and Lake Jocassee

National Geographic says that the Jocassee Gorges area is home to the 9th out of, “50 of the World's Last Great Places: Destinations of a Lifetime.”  On the cover of their special edition, they described perfectly  why we have CONSTANTLY beautiful, clean, clear mountain water in Lake Jocassee and Lake Keowee. National Geographic's 4 page article is titled, “Jocassee Gorges: an intense concentration of waterfalls.”  Inside our community or right outside our gates are some spectacular waterfalls, hikes and nature.  Here are a few examples:
  • Stunning Whitewater Falls (at left).  The entire Whitewater Falls chain - six different waterfalls along the North and South Carolina border - is the highest series of falls in eastern North America. The Lower Whitewater Falls comprises a dramatic 200-foot drop. A moderate one-hour, two-mile hike along the Foothills Trail and a spur trail takes you to a spectacular overlook.

  • McKinney Falls is within the gates of our beautiful Falls North community, accessible by following one of our lovely community trails.
